It seems like Mayweather vs McGregor is inevitable as both parties have seemingly reaching an agreement. Reports coming out of Las Vegas stated that, Mayweather was coming out of retirement to face Mcgregor on June the 10th, with the brand new T-Mobile Arena staging the fight. Much has been made of this bout, the most notably thing being, how does this effect Dana White and the UFC?
The Ultimate Fighter Season 25 returns to our screens in April, with former Alpha Team fighter TJ Dillashaw going up against current UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrant, both men have a storied history with each other which makes this season of the show very interesting. TJ and Cody trained together in Sacramento for many years with Team Alpha Male, Dillashaw has since left the team to pursue his career in Colorado with Elevation Fight Team in a high profile exit, but now both men find themselves coaching against each other on the show. It is no secret that they do not like each other, with Dillawshaw being branded a snake by Garbrant, as well as other personal issues they have against one another. Is this season going to about the coaches rather than the fighters?
UFC 209 has come and gone, now that the dust has settled, we have a look at the aftermath and fallout from the pay-per-view. The biggest story of the night came before the actual card started, Khabib Nurmagomedov was withdrawn from his bout with Tony Ferguson, after being hospitalised prior to the weigh in. We have since had statments from Dana White and Team Khabib camp but we haven’t heard anything from him until now. After all the drama prior to the card, what’s next Khabib? And where does Tony Ferguson go from here?
As reported for the most part of the end of last year, George St Pierre was rumoured to returning to the UFC, with officials trying to negotiate a deal with the former welterweight champion. negotions between the two parties were seemed to be over after UFC 206, with Dana White unable to sign up GSP to a contract, but things somehow took a turn and he will now face Micheal Bisping for the Middleweight championship.
UFC 209 promised to be so much but didn’t dazzle as advertised, the main event did not provide the action that we anticipated with both men throwing caution to the win, to a sea of boos from the crowd during and after the bout. The UFC president Dana White publicly stated that he thought the champion, Tyrone Woodley lost the bout 3 rounds to 2, many would agree with this result. Woodley then went on to criticise the UFC president, stating he should get in the octagon with WonderBoy, was he right to do this?
Tyrone Woodley did enough tonight to defend his UFC welterweight championship against Steven Wonderboy Thompson. The rematch took place in Las Vegas, at the T-Mobile Arena, live on pay-per-view. The bout was as close as their first match up, back at UFC 202, but at least produced a winner. Neither man stood to gain anything for another draw.
We reported yesterday that the UFC 209 co-main event, featuring Khabib Nurmagomedov & Tony Ferguson, was called off due to Khabib being hospitalised. It has now been revealed that Khabib was struggling to make-
weight and was taken to hospital after feeling unwell in the early hours of Friday morning.
