Fergie says Go for Europa glory!!

Manchester United face a battle in the Premier League, with their bid to beat their rivals to fourth position and secure Champions League football, they have been encouraged by former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to focus on the Europa League. Winning the Europa League is a priority for Manchester United should they achieve this, it will automatically enter them into next seasons Champions League draw, as well as get the club back to its former glory by competing against Europe’s finest teams.

Manchester United have not competed in the Champions League for three consecutive seasons and are desperate to qualify to play in the tournament next season. Jose Mourinho and his squad face an uphill battle with their fight to secure a top four position in the league, the fixtures have not been kind to their schedules and they will now play nine games in 30 days due to their backlog, which will test the depth of his United squad.

Former boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who won 38 trophies in his 27 years at Old Trafford, has given the Manchester United squad his backing on pursuing Europa League honors rather than the focusing on the league. It is no secret that winning the Europa League is a top priority for Jose Mourinho, who has won the tournament before, however should he win it with United it will be the first time winning the competition in the clubs history.

The draw has been kind to them, which is an advantage as they are the biggest team left in the competition, but United do face a struggle to be competitive with all their fixtures scheduled. The squad is walking wounded at the moment, with many players injured, whilst other are serving suspensions. The next game is on April 13th against Belgium side Anderlecht, whom they have met previously and beat comprehensively.

United will be hoping the injury list does not get any bigger during this international break, with Phil Jones being released from the England squad, as well as many other casualties currently out of action. The absence of key players were highlighted in their last Premier League game against Middlesbrough so the break is a welcomed distraction for Jose and his squad.
