Dana White upset with #TeamKhabib – We could have saved the co-main event!!

We reported yesterday that the UFC 209 co-main event, featuring Khabib Nurmagomedov & Tony Ferguson, was called off due to Khabib being hospitalised.  It has now been revealed that Khabib was struggling to make-

weight and was taken to hospital after feeling unwell in the early hours of Friday morning.

Dana White is upset with Khabib’s camp as they did not inform him of Khabib’s situation until the last minute. This ultimately left him no time to find a replacement, which resulted in him having to cancel the fight with Ferguson at late notice, this has upset so many UFC  fans who were looking forward to this contest.

Khabib’s injury problems have been highlighted in the past but has never had any weight cutting issues. He lobbied the UFC to make this fight, UFC bosses granted his wish and now are looking down the barrel of another unsuccessful card, which is substantially weakened without the co-main event.

Tony Ferguson tweeted Khabib, stating his wishes for Nurmagomedov to get well soon, as well as promising fans they will face each other at some point. However UFC matchmakers may reconsider putting Team AKA fighter in main events, after all the drama they have gone though, in the previous months.

It’s a shame because many fans had been looking forward to this contest and now do not have the opportunity to see the number #1 & #2 guys in the division face off against each other. With a weekend full of other sporting events the UFC may lose out in viewing figures in the long run.

We will be reporting on all the nights biggest headlines as well immediate coverage following the main event. Check back here to see the result of, Woodley vs Thompson, as well as fight analysis.
